How are you overusing your strengths at work?
Sometimes, a habit or thought pattern that feels like a shortcoming is actually an overreliance on, or misapplication of, one of your strengths (referred to here as “overuse” of a strength).
For example, careful analysis can become overthinking, or consideration for others can cause you to become overly accommodating.
If you view the problem only as a deficit, addressing it can feel like it requires you to change who you are, or get good at something you’re not naturally good at.
But when you recognize the strength underneath the pattern, the adjustment often becomes more manageable.
This quiz will help you identify which of six common strengths-overuse patterns may be showing up most often in your work.
These six patterns are among the most common I have seen in my work with clients, but there are also many others.
You will receive a score for each pattern and insight into where your strengths may be working well, where they may be starting to work against you, and where recalibrating them may be helpful.
