Law-Related Coaching
If you're new to law, you probably feel:
1. Powerless because you have no control
2. Confused because every task is a mystery
3. Drained because everyone is too busy to help you
4. Isolated because your family and friends outside of law have no idea what it's like
On top of that, you encounter a distinct set of health and wellness challenges:
1. Replaying unpleasant interactions in your mind
2. Around-the-clock availability and last minute "ASAP" deadlines
3. Fear of making mistakes in a complex and ever-changing landscape
4. Preoccupation with never-ending demands when attempting to recuperate
While it’s true that health and wellness should "come first," it can feel impossible.
Feel like there's no solution but to work 16 hours a day and hope it changes?
Want to talk to someone who “gets it”?
I’m your coach.
Having spent over 8 years in Biglaw, I worked on deals totaling $165,000,000,000.00+. But I also positioned myself as an advocate for junior attorneys, from the Summer Program, to panels, to training, to recruiting.
Now, as a full-time coach, I can help you:
1. Navigate the learning curve of unfamiliar lingo and processes
2. Develop systems that align with your working style and make you more productive
3. Recognize counterproductive management styles and learn not to emulate them
4. Build confidence in your skills and ability to work effectively with others
5. Regain a sense of purpose and control
And here's the secret--enhancing skills around communication, effective delegation/supervision, mentorship, and leadership intersects with overall well-being.
Because perspective and positive work relationships create the mental space and energy you need to incorporate realistic and achievable health and wellness strategies into your routine.
I’m on a mission to create more nuanced approaches to wellness that go beyond meditation tips and chair yoga lessons.
That starts with you.
When you're ready, I'd love to hear from you.
Testimonials
I have had the privilege of working with Tara both in her capacity as a partner at Kirkland and as a career coach. Tara has impacted my career in two major ways. First, her patience and ability to explain complex legal concepts and market practices have provided me with essential foundational knowledge in my career as a tax attorney. Tara truly does this better than anyone I have worked with. In addition, Tara has served as a wonderful advisor and mentor. Having worked at law firms herself, she is well positioned to provide astute career advice to attorneys. Tara is insightful and asks all the right questions. I would recommend Tara to anyone, lawyer or not, looking to take the next step in their career.

Tara is an outstanding, thoughtful, hard working, intelligent, and detail oriented professional in everything she does. I had the pleasure of working with Tara directly for years, and I was consistently impressed by her work ethic, competence, and ability to make the difficult seem easy. Perhaps more importantly, she manages to do it all with warmth, kindness, and a positive attitude that is infectious.
Tara was my appointed mentor at two different transitions in my career, and she helped me immeasurably in getting comfortable in my new roles. She understands what it takes to practice law and serve client needs at the highest levels, and how to navigate a legal career and build a sterling reputation while remaining balanced.
I have no doubt that she will bring the same tenacity in her new role as a coach, and could not recommend her more highly.

I worked with Tara as a career coach while deciding whether or not to transition from my current position as a biglaw junior associate into another firm and another practice group. Tara, unlike a recruiter, was able to act as an impartial third party and gave me practical advice on questions to ask once I had an offer. She also was able to ask me questions about why I wanted to lateral, and what I hoped to gain from this new job that helped me frame my thinking.
Her advice proved to be invaluable. Before working with Tara, I was very set on lateraling and accepting the job offer. Tara encouraged me to first ask certain questions of the firm, the partners, and associates. After doing so, I was able to clearly see that this opportunity wasn’t right for me given my goals and I opted to stay at my current firm.
I would highly recommend Tara to anyone who needs career coaching. She has a very calm, focused, and organized approach to coaching which I found extremely helpful. She is not there to tell you what to do or what she would have done, but instead uses her years of experience to give you a different perspective. She helps you determine what your goals are and how to achieve them.

Tara has acted as both a formal and informal mentor to me since the start of my legal career. She proactively engaged with me regularly and connected with me on a personal and professional basis. Early in my career, I needed to make a cross country move and she helped me navigate the office transfer every step of the way. I had no personal relationships with biglaw partners prior to Tara, and her insight has been invaluable to me as I counseled with her on everything from substantive tax law questions, best practices in working with colleagues, to big picture career questions.
